As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, AI itself does not commit crimes. AI systems are tools created and operated by humans, and any misuse or illegal activities involving AI are ultimately the responsibility of those who deploy or control the systems. However, there are concerns related to AI being involved in criminal activities or being used maliciously. Some potential scenarios include:

* Cyberattacks: AI can be used to enhance the sophistication of cyberattacks, such as automated hacking, phishing, or spreading malware. The use of AI in cybersecurity is a double-edged sword, as both defenders and attackers can leverage its capabilities.

* Deepfakes: AI-generated deepfake technology can create realistic but fake audio or video content, which could be used for fraudulent activities, spreading misinformation, or impersonating individuals for criminal purposes.
