Artificial Intelligence (AI) is progressively altering legal systems by facilitating better case management, enhancing legal research, analyzing data, and aiding in decision-making. Its capacity to analyzeextensive datasets and recognize trends can help judges and attorneys boost productivity while minimizing human mistakes and subconscious biases. Tools powered by AI could also aid in making choices related to risks of reoffending, conditions for release, and bail determinations. Nevertheless, incorporating AI into the judicial processes prompts serious issues about the transparency of algorithms, potential biases, privacy concerns, data security, and accountability measures. Consequently, AI ought to serve as supportive technology instead of substituting for human judges. The success of AI mainly hinges on appropriate development, adequate human supervision, and proper legal and ethical governance.

Artificial Intelligence has revolutionized sectors like healthcare, finance, education, and governance. It is progressively making its way into the field of judicial administration by means of legal research, managing cases, analyzing documents, and utilizing predictive analytics. Nonetheless, a pertinent question arises: Is it possible for AI to take the place of human judges? Although AI may enhance productivity, minimize wait times, and support legal analysis, it is devoid of empathy, ethical reasoning, judgment, and the constitutional principles necessary for making judicial decisions. This article explores the potential benefits and constraints of AI within the legal system, discusses pertinent case laws, and contends that AI should serve as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for judges.

The Supreme Court Portal for Assistance in Court Efficiency (SUPACE) is an AI-driven legal research resource that aids judges in locating relevant precedents, extracting legal doctrines, and maneuvering through extensive legal data collections. It complements judicial judgment rather than replacing it.
Likewise, SUVAS (Supreme Court Vidhik AnuvaadSoftware) employs AI-powered language tools to convert court rulings into local languages. While it fosters inclusion and facilitates access to justice, validation by humans remains crucial to maintain legal precision and contextual understanding.
