NEW CRIMINAL LAWS WHICH WILL TAKE EFFECT FROM 1ST JULY 2024:

INTRODUCTION:

India is set to implement three new criminal laws from July 1st 2024.  The change is significant and it involves the introduction of three new comprehensive laws. The name of the previous criminal laws are IPC( Indian penal code), CrPC (Code of criminal procedure), CPC( Code of civil procedure) and Indian Evidence act and the names have been changed as Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Act.

What are the new things added to these acts: The new criminal laws will replace the existing laws. It introduced several changes aimed at modernizing legal framework. Here are the new updates 

BNS: Bharatiya nyaya Sanhita:

It introduced new categories of offenses to address several contemporary issues such as cyber crime, terrorism and organized crime. The language is made simpler than before which made it easier so that general public can understand. Stricter punishments have been introduced for crimes such as rape, acid attack and human trafficking .

BNSS: Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita: Measures have been taken to reduce procedural delays and the new act ensures so that Justice is served as fast as possible including time bound investigations and trials. Provisions have been enhanced for victim rights including better protection and support mechanism for the victims. Some provisions have been incorporated for handling and presenting digital evidence which actually reflected the importance of technology in Criminal investigation. 

Bharatiya Sakshya Act: The rules are modernized for the admissibility and evaluation of evidence including digital evidence. Strength is imposed on witness protection to ensure the safety and to preserve the integrity of witnesses which is a crucial process for serving Justice.  Greater emphasize on Forensic evidence with guidelines mentioned fore preservation and presentation in court.

Overall the updates of these acts are significant as they are updated to challenge the modern issues. To protect the rights of the individuals and to protect the integrity of people. The criminal acts will deliver Justice more effectively and efficiently.

The introduction of these new acts marks a crucial development in Indian legal  system. By replacing the old criminal laws these new laws will address the contemporary issues for faster Justice.  The modernization of the  language will make it easier for people to understand the law more effectively.
